Task 1 Reflection
comments made in the margin by professor Pierson. I then fallowed immediately by reading over
my entire paper to get a feel for her comments and my standing on the paper. While doing this I
marked some mistakes myself, mostly grammatical. I then went through and fixed the
grammatical error professor Pierson and myself marked, including many run-on sentences. I then
began to look at the larger scale problems I had such as: super long paragraphs and lack of
explanation/ analysis. I started chronologically with the section on Literacy Sponsors. Here I
reversed outlined my one big jumbo paragraph. From there I was able to break it into several
smaller paragraphs. I had the same problem with my Discourse paragraph, but I also had some
other issues of clarity and explanation/ analysis. I started here in the same manor by reverse
outlining. This allowed to me to collect and organize my thoughts, making it much easier to add
Not much content was altered in my Discourse section. However, much was changed in
my Literacy Sponsors paragraph. In this section I made many alterations to add clarity and
understanding. I was able to add specifics while not getting off topic. I was also able to explain
certain sections that left the reader questioning certain areas. Likewise, I related these
explanations towards literacy and literate activities. Which tied in nicely with my smaller
organize my thoughts and really break down the information. This makes it so you can move bits
and pieces of your writing around to enhance flow and the readers understanding. I also learned
how important it is to try and reread your paper as a reader with lack of knowledge on your topic.
Because I often forget how average people dont know certain terms and phrases. I can read and
understand what Im trying to say but sometimes the reader cant. And I feel that I was able to do
this for the Discourse section of my writing and really enhance the clarity of this section for the
reader.
