The Effect of Lisinopril on Cold Stress Recovery Time of Drosophila

melanogaster

Recovery from cold stressor exposure to low temperatures for extended periods

of timein Drosophila melanogaster is modulated by genes that are responsible for

homeostasis. Lisinopril is a drug used to treat high blood pressure in humans that has

been found to induce side effects similar to those seen in humans in D. melanogaster.

Research has shown that it may be interacting with genes responsible for maintaining

homeostasis in D. melanogaster, particularly those responsible for maintaining water-

solute balance. To better understand the impact of Lisinoprils effect on gene expression,

Lisinopril-treated and untreated flies of three different genetic lines will be tested using a

cold stress assay, and their recovery times will be compared.
