To get an idea of the dimensions of the Vatican, the
first thing is to think that this is the smallest state
in the whole of Europe, it has only 0.44 square
kilometers and between its walls live less than 1,000
people.
The Pope lives in a limited space where that one finds

in Rome.
It was built in the fifteenth century by the cardinal
of Venice Pietro Bardo.
The palace is also famous because Mussolini settled in
it his official residence.
The Vittoriano was conceived at the end of the XIX
in honor of the king Victor Manuel II, he died a few
years after consummating the Italian unification
under his flag.
In Piazza Venezia, we find the monument to Victor
Emmanuel II or Vittoriano, made in honor of the first
unified king of Italy.
Designed by Giuseppe Sacconi. Its construction began
in 1885 and was completed between 1924 and 1927.
Its inauguration was in 1911, construction of white
marble extracted of the quarries of Botticin. It has
several fountains and sculptures of the king and two
statues of the Queen Victoria.
Roman coliseum
The habitants of Rome were very fond of spectacles
and the emperors liked that their people were
entertained, they had special places to have fun.
The Roman coliseum was a great Roman
amphitheater, the largest and most important of all
those who have existed.
The Vespasian emperor commanded to build the
coliseum in the year seventy-two b.c. and in less
than ten years it was over.
In the Colosseum the Romans enjoyed many
different shows. One of the most incredible was to
fill the floor with water to represent naval battles.
Wild animal fights were also organized (lions,
panthers, elephants ...), brought from faraway
places, or the poor prisoners were forced to
confront these fearsome beasts.
But the main act that was enjoyed in the Coliseum
was the gladiator fights. The Roman Coliseum was
used for many years for these purposes, but with
the passage of time several earthquakes destroyed
part of its structure.
