ACTIVITIES FOR 1st CYCLE OF PRIMARY -

TEACHERS NOTES
HALLOWEEN CROSSWORD
& PAPER PUMPKIN

Materials:
Halloween crossword
Pumpkin template on orange card
Scissors

1. First, give your pupils the Halloween crossword to revise

Halloween-related vocabulary.
2. After having gone over the answers, assign each child a
number from 1 to 8. Ask the children to draw the corresponding
crossword picture on their pumpkin. (Example: #1 draws a
witch, #2 draws a haunted house, #3 draws a vampire, etc)
3. Hang up the pumpkins in random order around the classroom.
4. Each child takes turns calling out directions for their classmates.
For example, Touch the vampire. The other students will then
look for a vampire drawing and then touch it.

3. Play the song a 2nd or 3rd time in order to give your students another
chance to listen and check their answers.

Task 2: Play The scary pizza game:

1. Give a copy of the game to each pupil. The pupils name the
ingredients (1 olives, 2 tomato, 3 sausage, 4 cheese, 5 peas and
6 bacon).
2. Divide the class into pairs and give each pair a dice. Demonstrate
the game. The pupils take turns to throw the dice. If a pupil throws
a number two, they can write tomato in the corresponding
space. To win, the pupils need to collect all six ingredients and
to label them on their pizza.
3. The pupils can play again, this time colouring the appropriate
ingredients each time they throw the dice.
