CAS Stages complete questions below:

1) Investigation - what are your goals for this CAS experience?
The goal of our CAS group is to remove lionfish from the waters of Grand Bahama
seeing as they are an invasive species. Ultimately we aim to kill approximately 300
lionfish between October 2017 and May 2018. Also, our group aims to create YouTube
videos of the experience, the lionfish cleaning process, the lionfish cooking process, etc.
Also, by the end of May the group aims to have designed a cookbook outlining the
many ways in which you can cook and eat the lionfish to prevent throwing them away.

2) Preparation briefly identify your plan of action and include an approximate

timeline.
The plan of action includes, initially going out to spear the lionfish, secondly to record
the process involved (spearing, cleaning, cooking) and make YouTube videos out of the
collected footage. All of the actions listed above will take place between October 2017
and May 2018, with the spearing lasting approximately 6 hours a day, once every 2
weeks. The cookbook will also advance further as more lionfish are caught and
experimented on.

3) Action - how will you accomplish your goals? Who will be involved?
Our group consist of 7 members, all of which who will participate in making this project
both possible and successful. We will accomplish our goals by dedicating our weekend
to going out on the boat and spearing as many lionfish as possible in said day over a 6
hour time period. Without teamwork, this project will not be successful so we will all
work together efficiently to complete ALL aspects of it (spearing, cooking, cleaning,
recording, editing, cooking and writing the recipes down into a cookbook).

4) Reflection - what were your expectations? What did you hope to gain from this
experience? What did you learn? What are your next steps? How are the Learner
Profile attributes incorporated?
Obviously our group will have to be prepared and come up with solutions for potential
issues we may encounter, for example, bad weather, boat problems, a group member
getting stung by the lionfish, etc. If we encounter bad weather on a day we were
supposed to go out, we will get together and come up with another possible day to
make up the hours or we will spend the day editing the videos and coming up with
recipes. We will also make sure to keep a first aid kit, a hot thermos of water on the boat
at all times in the event that a group member gets hurt. We are also fortunate enough to
have a first aid responder (Tom Paine) as one of our group members, again, should
anything happen to one of our group members.

5) Demonstration what evidence will you use to show you have completed your
goals?
Our group plans to take videos of the entire process and edit / post these videos to
YouTube as proof of completion and evidence that we HAVE been getting together to
work on the project and ultimately meeting our goals.

Estimate date of completion: May 2018 Total number of hours: 100
