Review
SOLs: Math
2.5 The student will recall addition facts with sums to 20 or less
2.6 The student, given two whole numbers whose sum is 99 or less, will
a) estimate the sum; and
b) find the sum, using various methods of calculation

Materials Needed:
dice

Preparation/Introduction/Implementation
The first review game will be a dice game where students will be divided into teams (3
teams for the three tables)
Students take turns rolling the dice. The number they roll is the number of points
they can earn for their team if they answer the question correctly
I will ask them a question for review after they roll and if they get the answer
correct I will put their number of points on the board under their team name
(Black, Blue, and Green Teams)
After everyone at each team has rolled the dice one time and answered one
question, I will add up the points for the teams and the team with the highest
amount of points wins
The second review game will be Race to the Chairs where students will be divided into
teams (3 teams for the three tables)
Three chairs (one for each group) will be put at the front of the room.
Each chair will be labeled 5, 10, and 15 for their point values
I will show the class a question and the teammates take turns answering the
question, writing it down on a piece of paper, and running to the chair with the
highest value.
After all three teams have one member each in a chair, they will show me their
answers
If the teams answer is correct, they get the number of points in the chair that
their teammate is sitting in; if they get the answer wrong, I subtract the number of
points on the chair that their teammate is sitting in from their total
The first team to 50 points wins

Closure
Students will answer three math ticket questions to be turned into me (assessment of
their learning/understanding)
Each question will cover one of the areas they have learned so far this week
(adding doubles, commutative property of addition, adding three numbers)
