After finishing Frankenstein, you will complete a graphic organizer to help you begin organizing your thoughts and

ideas for
your final paper for this unit. We will be working on a Double Entry Journal in class as an individual assignment, although you
may work with peers in order to help gather ideas.
Directions:
1. Gather a minimum of six high quality quotes and record them under the heading Ideas from Text. These should be
directly stated from the novel with page numbers included.
2. At least two quotes should be directly related to the theme(s) discussed in the novel. Remember to focus on the major
themes we have discussed in class on the dangerous pursuit of knowledge and sublime nature.
3. Find at least four quotes that pertain to the main characters of the story. Two quotes should focus on Victor
Frankenstein, and two quotes focusing on the monster.
4. Once you have gathered your quotes, you will provide your own information in the Reaction/Connection column. This
section is there for you to record your personal ideas regarding the quotes you have chosen. You can show how they
connect to other ideas in the text, what they may say about characterization, how the themes inform the plot, etc. You
MUST provide at least one personal reaction per quote.
While completing your Double Entry Journals, remember these will be used to help you develop your ideas for your final
paper. Therefore be sure to choose quotes that are engaging and meaningful. The more thought and effort you put into these,
the more you will get out of them!
