WARRANT: A mental health disorder is a condition characterized by difficulties of personal adaption to acceptable
ways of life.
QUALIFIER: Depression occurs in multiple episodes persisting for long periods of time.
REBUTTAL: Some feelings of melancholy and sadness share negative behavioural characteristics but does not
constitute a mental health disorder.
BACKING: Mental treatments and therapy are specific to patients of depression.

CLAIM: Art is subjective, thus everything created can be art.


SUPPORT: Post-Modernism transcends the traditional values of art.
WARRANT: Non-traditional art values subjectivity and different points of view.
QUALIFIER: As long as the art is intended for aesthetic purposes shall be considered as one.
REBUTTAL: We can arbitrarily give an aesthetic purpose to a subject of function and still not call it art.
BACKING: Renaissance started to accept other forms and ways of art from other mediums.

CLAIM: Nuclear power strengthens national security, not threaten other states.
SUPPORT: Military prowess determines the capacity of the state to defend itself.
WARRANT: The capability to defend borders gives the state its security to reach out to other nuclear enabled
nations and form a community.
QUALIFIER: The members of the community of nations must all have the resources to establish their own nuclear
security.
REBUTTAL: The development of nuclear technology ended in a race that caused insecurity among nuclear-enabled
powers and started the Cold War.
BACKING: A community of nuclear-enabled nations, all of which are secure on their capacity to defend their
borders through this power, has advanced more than its counterpart that did not develop the technology.

CLAIM: Wars are natural and not strictly man-made affairs.


SUPPORT: Wars contribute to depopulation which is a natural need to sustain life in the long run.
WARRANT: Depopulation by fighting amongst species happens in other forms of life on account of territory and
resources.
QUALIFIER: Wars must be purposeful on mitigating the capacity of the enemies to live in order to exhaust their
resources.
REBUTTAL: Political ideologies do not constitute a natural rationale for depopulation and cannot control the loss
in the population.
BACKING: World War II has decreased the population of Europe by a third, almost the same depopulation rate as
the bubonic plague.

CAUSE

CLAIM: Exposure to American media increases promiscuity among Filipino teens.


SUPPORT: Teens can have access to American media that shows mature content that has a different censorship
standard.
WARRANT: Filipino teens cannot fully understand the context of these content that can lead to questionable sexual
behaviour and promiscuity.
QUALIFIER: American media may refer to any visual, audio or literary content in any form of access such as
internet or television that may contain situations not extensively created for educational purposes.
REBUTTAL: Teens have openly accessible resources to vet the media that they are watching, and are encouraged
to ask about them in good accountable sources such as their parents or counsellors.
BACKING: Some content, purposed for entertainment, may have scenes not suitable for a teen that may be
misconstrued as acceptable in a social context.

CLAIM: Prioritization of sports at an early age inhibits the mental faculties of the child.
SUPPORT: Purposeful development of the child in the physical sphere by focusing into sports does not diversify
the childs ability in terms of mental learning.
WARRANT: Early child development focuses on multiple aspects and not just on the physical aspect.
QUALIFIER: The child is only pushed on the development of faculties specific to a sport with little regard to its
mental aptitude.
REBUTTAL: Sports itself develops the mental faculties needed by the child to perform its physical tasks.
BACKING: Serious medical injuries from sports may lead to gradual damages on the mental faculties of the child
athlete.

CLAIM: Positive reinforcement contributes to better worker productivity.


SUPPORT: Workers are encouraged to provide extra initiative in their task in the reinforcement of good working
environment and incentives.
WARRANT: It is a right for the workers to have an environment where he/she feels acknowledged in terms of their
productivity.
QUALIFIER: The workers still follow rules which are then augmented with good social interactions and personal
commendations.
REBUTTAL: Workers not in the state of strictness and enjoying comforts do not really produce an efficient amount
of work and would tend to do better once positive reinforcement has been lifted.
BACKING: Workers would prefer to be in positive environment to be able to see their most efficient potential.

CLAIM: Popular music contributes to the increasing number of depression-related suicides.


SUPPORT: A higher number of contemplation of self harm happens in the adolescent periods where they have
major exposure to popular music that has a context of relationships, friendship, adulthood, etc.
WARRANT: Most of these suicides are attributed to the reality of the music in connection to their personal lives

CLAIM: Electronic stimulation is the best form of generating creativity among children.
SUPPORT: Most forms of entertainment such as video games are the most engaging forms of solving situations,
creating things, and accomplishing tasks.
WARRANT: Video games is a form of electronic stimulation where children fully responds to when asked to do
tasks which are otherwise not being responded to when presented in textual or audio form.
QUALIFIER: The children do not necessarily know that these tasks are transformed in game form for example, for
them to enjoy.
REBUTTAL: Video games are not focused on engaging the creative side of the child but only on accomplishing the
task the game has provided them.
BACKING: Some forms of video games are specifically created to build and design, and do more with their own
ideas.

CLAIM: Crime-genre films are the most preferred kind of movie entertainment among male adults.
SUPPORT: The movie making business is constantly creating content with murder, fast-paced stories and violence.
WARRANT: Age-restrictions have been strictly made for adults to be able to see these kinds of films.
QUALIFIER: Adults may also watch other genres of films but still have proclivities to prefer crime-related ones.
REBUTTAL: The markets of male adults watching crime-related films do still watch other genres of films and do
watch other genres depending on the popular demand.
BACKING: Crime movies often star adult males on which the audience could better relate to.

CLAIM: LGBT marriages strengthen the American family values.


SUPPORT: More states support these marriages in the premise of family building on the Bill of Rights.
WARRANT: American families tend to be nuclear and the acceptance of LGBT marriages diversifies their values
on marriage and family-building.
QUALIFIER: These marriages are still not accepted in other states but are otherwise still regarded by the US
Constitution as legal.
REBUTTAL: The disconnection of the society on the values of gender and marriage will only break the values of a
nuclear family.
BACKING: More states in the US are now encouraging an extended type of family that are highly advocated in
LGBT marriages.
