SCENE 1

FADE IN:

EXT. OUTSIDE THE HOUSE DAY

VOICEOVER
Up until now Ive never understood why people say life is the
shortest thing on earth.

FADE:

INT. HOUSE HALLWAY DAY

VOICEOVER
I cant help but think life is the longest thing Ive come
across.

FADE:

INT. HER BEDROOM DRIP BAG - DAY

VOICEOVER
And thats because Im stuck with a life threatening disease.

FADE:

CLAIRE (16) a Caucasian girl, wearing a black bandana, a plain


shirt and some black leggings, is sat upright on her bed
writing a letter.

VOICEOVER
Ive always taken advantage of things that came to me without
a cost or time limit, but when I realised that something as
vital as my life could be taken from me without any warning, I
finally decided to be grateful for what I have and the people
who have been by my side while I still have the time.

FADE:

SCENE 2

INT. THE FRONT ROOM - EVENING

Flashback of CLAIRE and her mum, HELEN, are watching TV as


they eat popcorn and laugh together (Silent)

VOICEOVER
These were the times I missed the most when we would forget
about the world and it was just the two of us, no school work
to stress me, no work colleague annoying you at work, it was
just me and you.

FADE:

PRESENT DAY

INT. HER BEDROOM

CLAIRE continues to write in her letter.

FADE:

SCENE 3

INT. IN A CLASSROOM

FLASHBACK of CLAIRE and her friend, RACHEL, are talking and


laughing when CLAIREs phone goes off. CLAIRE looks down at
her phone then dismisses the message before she carries on
talking to RACHEL.

VOICEOVER
I shouldve told you this ages ago, mum, but I was always too
selfish to acknowledge all the things you did to help me once
we found out about my leukaemia.

FADE:

SCENE 4

INT. STUDY AREA - EVENING

FLASHBACK of CLAIRE as she watches HELEN sit by a desk trying


to work through the new letters shes received which are
bills. HELEN is frustrated due to the large amounts of money
she needs to pay.

VOICEOVER
I remember the times you worked extra hours to make enough
money for my treatment; all those times you took time off work
to come with me to hospital appointments; and all those tears
you cried because you didnt know how to cope. I just want you
to know that I love and appreciate you and I always will.

PRESENT DAY

INT. HER BEDROOM DAY

CLAIRE continues to write in her letter.

FADE:

SCENE 5

FLASHBACK of CLAIRE at a park with her close friend, Isabel,


on a set of swings.

ISABEL
I bet I can swing higher than you.

CLAIRE
You know Im better than you at competitions, remember when we
tried to see who could eat the most marshmallows in ten
seconds?

ISABEL
Thats not fair, I had braces at the time. This time Ill
definitely win.

Both girls aim to see who can swing the highest before they
both jump off and laugh at each other.

PRESENT DAY

INT. HER BEDROOM

CLAIRE continues to write in her letter.

VOICEOVER
I never really thanked you for being such a great friend to
me, Isabel, you were with me through everything, from when I
started my first day in secondary to helping me with my first
date. I couldnt be more grateful for a friend like you.

FADE:

SCENE 6

FLASHBACK of CLAIRE in an art room working on her artwork,


which is due for an exam soon.

VOICEOVER
One thing I miss about school was art, it was one of the only
lessons I enjoyed not only because I could express my
creativity, but it also gave me a sense of hope and freedom,
but now I can only hold onto my love for art through memories.

FADE:

SCENE 7

CLAIRE continues to write until her eyelids start to gradually


close. Her hand slowly slides off the piece of paper shes
writing on before the pen drops from her hand. The sound of
the heart monitor going flat is heard in the background.

FADE TO BLACK

CUT TO CREDITS
