Roles of the Oral Health Division:

1. Formulation and development of policies related to the oral health of the population
2. Management of oral health which includes planning, organizing, monitoring and evaluation of
oral healthcare
3. Promotion of oral health to ensure continuous improvement of the oral health population
4. Enactment and enforcement of laws and regulations pertaining to the practice of dentistry

Oral Health Mission:

1. To enhance the quality of life of the population through promotion of oral health
2. Emphasis on patient-centered care (To treat patients holistically. Look at the patient as a whole)
3. To build partnerships for health (When we went to Gua Tempurung, we built a partnership with
the school, teachers, villagers. In 3rd year, partnership with Colgate)

Strategies to bring these missions to live:

1. Ensure everybody has access to oral health (either via clinics or you reach out to the community)
2. Emphasize always on prevention (treatment is not the answer to things, prevention is)
3. Smart partnerships
4. Utilization of appropriate technologies in clinics (minimally invasive dentistry)
