- Based in main clinics: Orthodontics, Periodontology, Public Health, Restorative

3. Community oral healthcare

Types of activities:

(a) Water fluoridation


(b) Fissure sealan programme
(c) Oral pre-cancer and cancer screening programme
(d) Community oral health services (Outreach programmes)

- School dental service School Incremental Care Programme
- First introduced in 1985
- Main objective: To make all school children orally fit when they leave school
- ORALLY FIT:
A person who is free from active oral diseases. They are caries-free, they do not need treatment
anymore and they are gingivitis free

- Carry out preventive and promotional activities Cover the whole of primary school
and secondary school until 17 years old

- Aim is to teach school children to become responsible for their oral health Staff
nurses treat primary school children and dentists will be incharge of secondary school
children

- Dental nurses are allowed to do Xn of primary teeth

- But they must be supervised by dental officers (we will go and do a random check on
nurses)

- Do toothbrushing drills
- Dental health talks
- Dental treatment
