1102 GROUP 6
2017, OCTOBER 20
PROCEDURE
WE WERE GIVEN TWO QUESTIONS, ONE HAS TWO FORCES
AND ANOTHER ONE HAS THREE FORCES

1.INSTALL PULLEYS, STRINGS, CENTRAL RING

AND WEIGHT TO THE FORCE TABLE

2.SET THE DIRECTION AND MAGNITUDE (FORCE)

OF EACH STRING FOLLOW THE GIVEN QUESTION

3.ESTIMATE THE POSSIBLE MAGNITUDE AND

DIRECTION TO BALANCE OTHER FORCES BY
LOOKING AT THE CENTRAL RING - WHEN IT IS IN
THE CENTER AND DOES NOT TOUCH THE
CENTRAL STICK.

4.RECORD THE EQUILIBRANT - PREDICTED

MAGNITUDE (N) AND DIRECTION (DEGREES)

5.FIND RESULTANT - OPPOSITE WAY OF

EQUILIBRANT BUT THE SAME MAGNITUDE

6.DO 1-5 AGAIN FOR ANOTHER QUESTION

7.DO GRAPHICAL METHOD BY DRAWING AND

MEASURING MAGNITUDE AND DIRECTION

8.CALCULATE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN

EXPERIMENTAL RESULT AND GRAPHICAL RESULT
OBJECTIVE

FOR THIS EXPERIMENT, WE WANT TO

LEARN AND UNDERSTAND MORE
ABOUT NEWTONS THIRD LAW BASED
ON THE EXPERIMENT WHICH USES
BOTH EXPERIMENTAL METHOD AND
GRAPHICAL METHOD TO PROVE THAT
ACTION EQUALS TO THE REACTION.
BESIDES, WE ALSO WANT TO USE TWO
TYPES OF A METHOD; CONSIST OF
PARALLELOGRAM AND POLYGON, TO
CALCULATE THE RESULT OF THE
EXPERIMENT.

INTRODUCTION
NEWTONS THIRD LAW IS EVERY ACTION,
THERE IS AN EQUAL AND OPPOSITE
REACTION. THIS MEANS THAT WHEN THERE IS
ALWAYS A PAIR OF FORCES ACTING ON THE
TWO INTERACTING OBJECTS, THE FORCE ON
THE FIRST OBJECT WILL EQUAL TO THE FORCE
ON THE SECOND OBJECT, BUT IN AN
OPPOSITE DIRECTION(2016, PHYSICS
CLASSROOM). FORCE IS A VECTOR QUANTITY,
WHICH HAS A MAGNITUDE AND DIRECTION,
UNLIKE SCALAR QUANTITY WHICH HAS ONLY A
MAGNITUDE. THE SUM OF TWO OR MORE
VECTORS IS CALLED THE RESULTANT. WHEN
THE RESULTANT IS IN THE SAME DIRECTION, IT
CAN BE ADDED ARITHMETICALLY. IF THE
RESULTANT IS IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION, IT
CAN BE SUBTRACTED ARITHMETICALLY. IF THE
RESULTANT IS IN THE DIFFERENT DIRECTION
USING VECTOR COMPONENTS CAN FIND A
HORIZONTAL AND VERTICAL FORCE, AS A
RESULT, IT CAN BE ADDED TOGETHER.
% DIFFERENCES
(RESULTANT)
TWO FORCES:

THREE FORCES:
ANALYSIS OF
RESULT
ACCORDING TO THE CHART PERCENT
DIFFERENCES, BETWEEN THE RESULT FROM
THE EXPERIMENT AND FROM THE GRAPHING,
THERERE SOME ERROR IN BOTH WAYS. THE
VALUE FROM THE EXPERIMENT WEVE DONE
GOT A HUMAN ERROR WHEN WE MEASURING
WITH OUR EYES. AND THE RESULT FROM
GRAPHING AN PARALLELOGRAM, WE USE THE
CONSTANT VALUE OF G AS 10M/S2 INSTEAD
OF 9.8 M/S2. SO ALL THE ANSWERS MUST BE A
LITTLE SHIFTED.

CONCLUSION
FROM NEWTONS THIRD LAW, THERE IS AN
EQUAL AND OPPOSITE REACTION IN EVERY
ACTION WHICH RESULTS AS EQUILIBRANT. IN
THIS EXPERIMENT, ONLY ONE FORCE IS USED
TO BALANCE THE FORCE TABLE THAT HAS
MULTIPLE FORCE ACT ON IT.
