‘SUMMARY COMMENTS by the SUPERVISING TEACHER
Mr. Zhang started his practicum on the 26% of April at Blaxland High School, He has been assigned to
teach Year 7 and 8 standard class, Year 9 stage 5.2 and some lessons for Year 10 Stage 5.1. Mr
Zhang began with an open-minded approach, and an attitude to learn and take up new skill in the
arene of teaching high school students. Since then he has accepted and carried out al teaching duties
assigned to him wilingly. Mr Zhang has demonstrated his capabilty of being a valuable and resourceful
teacher to the students.
Mr Zhang, however, must observe the skills and strategies needed to address students in a secondary
schoo! setting to enhance his abilty to teach them. Mr Zhang needs to work on the clarity of his
instructions and the use of his voice in an assertive way. Some of the problems he encountered in
teaching would not have occurred had he pursued this strategy. Mr. Zhang needs to do more in terms
cof managing challenging behaviour and to develop a variety of class management strategies to create
a congenial learning environment. He has attempted to do this with some success.
Overal, Mr Zhang has been professional and has demonstrated willingness to be part of New South
Wales education system. With persistence and perseverance, | am certain that he will be able to
| overcome whatever litle problems he faced during hs practicum. | wish him the best of luck in his
future endeavours in the professional teaching world.
