POST- ASSESSMENT (SUMMATIVE)

By the end of the unit, I plan to use a variety of different ways to assess student
comprehension and growth. To begin with, I would use rhythm cards that consist of a variety of
rhythms are familiar to them, such as eighth notes, sixteenths notes, and quarter notes. Some
however, will incorporate the syncopa rhythms that has been woven throughout the unit. These
rhythms cards will be used throughout the unit where students art given different tasks when
using the rhythm cards. One for example, students have to use the rhythm cards to recreate
Canoe Song with the correct order of rhythms that occur. This will illustrate to me what specific
rhythms and rhythm groupings they are confident in doing, (while also showing me what they
need more assistance one). Another form of assessment will be the use of improvisation and
composition where they must incorporate the new rhythm within their song or improvisation. In
addition, students while be using self-reflection near this unit via Post-assessment. Below is what
will be distributed among students.

How do you feel about doing these tasks?
