My name is Grace Koehler. I am a recent graduate from Pittsburg State
University. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education degree and majored in Elementary Education. I am thrilled to be teaching here at PSU Elementary School and have the opportunity to work with your children this year! Along with our reading series, Wonders, our class will read novels like Because of Winn Dixie and Stone Fox, and your children will participate in literature circles. Our math instruction will focus on addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. We will also learn about measurements and geometry. In science, your children will become botanists and learn all about plants! We have three field trips planned for this year: Science City, Greenbush, and George Washington Carver National Monument. The dates and permission slips of these trips will be sent out later in the year. To promote a positive learning experience for your children, our classroom does have certain policies that coincide with our building and districts expectation. Additionally, students are expected to be in the classroom by 8:00 a.m., or they will be counted tardy/absent. If homework is assigned, it will be in the childrens planners and posted in the weekly update. Grades are based on assignments, tests, and participation. Also, quarterly reports will be sent home for parental/guardian signature. However, if you have questions regarding your childs progress, I would be happy to answer them at any time! Weekly newsletters will be emailed out every Friday afternoon. If you have any questions or concerns throughout the year, feel free to contact me via email at gkoehler@schooldistrict.com or at (888)-999-0000 ex. 123. The best times to reach me on the phone are 7:00-7:45 a.m. and 3:30-4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. If you would like to meet in person, we can schedule an appointment through phone or email. My goal is to help your children succeed in the fourth grade and prepare them for fifth grade and beyond. Your childs education, happiness, and safety are incredibly important to me, and I feel optimistic about the upcoming school year!
