Every crew member of the seagoing ship shall be required basic safety training courses completed with an

examination before commencing first seagoing service according to specification of minimum standard
competence of STCW Convention (Chapter VI section A-VI/I subsection 2):

a) Elementary first aid,


b) Personal survival techniques,
c) Personal safety and social responsibilities,
d) Basic training in fire prevention and firefighting

For performing given function every crew member of the seagoing ship shall be required advanced safety
training courses completed with an examination according to specification of minimum standard
competence of STCW Convention (Chapter VI):

a) Proficiency in survival craft and rescue boats (Chapter VI/2 section A-VI/2 subsection 1-4),
b) Advanced training in fire fighting (Chapter VI/3 section A-VI/3 subsection 1-4),
c) Medical first aid (Chapter VI/4 section A-VI/4 subsection 1-3),
d) Medical care (Chapter VI/4 section A-VI/4 subsection 4-6),

Basic safety training courses according to subsection 3 and advanced safety training courses according to
subsection 4 (hereinafter safety training courses) shall be performed by legal persons appointed or
approved by the Ministry in accordance with STCW Convention.

After completing training course according to subsection 3 and 4 the crew member of the seagoing ship
shall receive safety training course competence certificate according to section 5 subsection 3; validity
period of competence certificate shall be, according to subsection 3; five years after passing the
examination.

1.13)
2) Personal survival techniques, STCW Convention Chapter VI section A-VI/1-1, (IMO Model
course No. 1.19)
3) Personal safety and social responsibilities, STCW Convention Chapter VI section A-VI/1-4, (IMO
Model course No. 1.21)
4) Basic training in fire prevention and firefighting, STCW Convention Chapter VI section A-VI/1-2,
(IMO Model course No. 1.20)

Advanced safety training courses


1) Advanced training in fire fighting (Chapter VI/3 section A-VI/3 subsection 1-4),
2) Medical first aid (Chapter VI/4 section A-VI/4 subsection 1-3),

Special training courses for certain types of the seagoing ships


1) Crowd and crisis management and human behaviour training for personnel on ro-ro passenger
ships - IMO course No.1.28 and No.1.29
2) Crowd and crisis management and human behaviour training for personnel on passenger ships
other than ro-ro passenger ships - IMO course No.1.28 and No.1.29
