Journal Entry #11, week 12

November 13th
This week started off kind of slow at my field placement. My site supervisor had to go to
the Baltimore office to prepare for a CARF survey, and the office is being renovated to create
more office space. I connect with Alison the Care Coordinator supervisor to go over my task for
the day. She confirms that we will have intern group supervision and that I can continue working
on the donation list. I proceed with the donation call backs and respond to emails received from
businesses willing to support or donate. I attend the intern group supervision, and we discuss any
follow up items from the last meeting and any necessary paperwork that needs to be completed
for our individual courses. Im beginning to feel slightly anxious as the end of the semester
approaches.

November 15th
End of week 12 and we are having staff group supervision when I enter the office. I truly
enjoy group supervision and I feel that I gain a lot of information when I attended. We go over
the agenda for the day and welcome the new staff members as well as go over updates within the
agency. We concluded the meeting by having one of the staff do a family presentation. This is
my first family presentation and it was very interesting to be a part of. The staff member presents
the new family with a family history and background typed up for the staff to read over. Once
the staff reads it we go over the details of the client and the family and formulate the thoughts,
feelings and needs that the client and the family may need to address. These thoughts, feelings
and needs will become part of the staff members POC (plan of care) for the client and family.
Being a part of that activity I realized how helpful team work is and how it helped the staff
member get a start on her new clients POC and begin the care coordination process.
