IELTS READING STRATEGY

1. See the title, the number of paragraphs etc to get acquainted with the subject.

2. Go through the questions as the paragraphs are meant to answer them.

3. Notice in mind what is asked and guess the connections, answers and idea about what the content is about

4. Skim the paragraphs in full speed to have overall idea. Do not read the whole content.

5. Slowly go once again through the paragraphs marking major nouns, adjectives, verb, timings, names, years etc

6. Be very vigilant as what is asked ONE WORD/NUMBER; TRUE FALSE NOT GIVEN or YES NO NOT GIVEN; A, B, C or i, ii, iii etc.

7. Aim to complete the whole reading test by 50 minutes including answers.

8. Write the answers in the answer sheet after completion of each section, to avoid unwanted stress at the end.

9. Do not see the headings first in match the headings

10. Do not see the questions first in true, false and not given type of questions

11. Underline the words or phrase where you find the answer for you to refer later and verify during rechecking.

12. Synonyms are used considerably throughout. So be aware of it and mark the synonyms if you find time.
