Mr. GILES EDGAR DAYA

Director
St. Scholasticas Choir
Palo, Leyte

Dear MR. GILES EDGAR DAYA:

Greetings of cultural and artistic solidarity!

The Visayas cluster of islands have witnessed gripping accounts of disaster in recent years but also
through this regions history from natural disasters such as typhoons and earthquakes, to social
strife, mass starvation, human trafficking and violence in many levels.

As a performative expression, theatre has often been created and performed accompanying and
responding to these countless acts of schisms and brokenness. These narratives often reveal its
peoples deeply embedded spirit of resistance and resilience, expressed in ways that are comic, even
as they are tragic.

This year, TANGHAL 11 in Visayas will explore this interesting creative space between the Comic and
the Tragic with the theme: Ang Totoo sa Pagitan ng Komedya at Trahedya: Truth in Spaces Between
the Comic and the Tragic. It is a theater festival that will gather youth theater practitioners, together
with the theater luminaries in the Visayas, to share, explore and learn from each others experiences
and works. It will run on the 9-12 of November and will be hosted by Leyte Normal University in
Tacloban City, Leyte.

Believing that we are one with you and your good office on the plight of the advancement of culture
and the arts in the Visayas, we would like to invite you and your network of young artists to
participate in this event aimed at the achievement of the celebration of the Visayan communities
through theatre arts.

Should you need for us to talk on this matter, you can reach us at (+63)-908-187-5748 for Smart and

Thank you and more power!
