Sound of the post nightclub world

Genesia alves

Its the sort of music that coulod make you feel really old;or really lonely,or really there ,s no other
way to put it,;mushroomed, out.for those who came in late, atieast to this mount kimbie, s sound is
dubstep but the genre that evolved out of south london has seen several re-generations in the last
10yerrs and if you lost track in the middle you, re going to have to concentrate to keep up a reviewer
called it the sound of the postnightclub world, and that best describes its ambience,a surround sound
of hints, suggestions asking nothing, not even your full attention.

Despite having released two eps last year, producers dominic maker and kai campos have released
their first really rea lalbum, crooks and lovers. A cross the 11 songs, an amalgam of samples, simple
instrumentation, tonal teasing and some rhythms and beats bring on a mood that is aloof without
being bleak. There are moments when you wonder about the defination of music and whether its
changed since you last put your player on.Check out their track Maybes(not on the album) to get an
introduction to the band. Ruby is a good example of how Mount Kimbie blend obstuse with
appealing.Blind Night Errand can confuse the first time you listen to it.But other tracks on the album
lure you into the heart of Mount Kimbie where as Kai said,is a place inside all of us where the bus
arrives on time.
