If we were in Jane Kravitz shoes, we would have a close look at the following factors

1. Improve communication: Effective communication is important for the

development of an organization. It is something which helps the managers to
perform the basic functions of management- Planning, Organizing, Motivating and
Controlling. Jane Kravitz should be more open in communicating with Lyndon and
effectively expressing without hurting him. The vague references given by Jane on
the projects to brooks were somewhat misleading. This brought Jane under pressure
and made Brooks doubt the situation that he was into.

2.Proper Feedback and recognition: Appreciation is a fundamental human need.

Employees respond to appreciation expressed through recognition of their good work
because it confirms their work is valued. Instead of monitoring Brooks and giving him
small appreciations, Kravitz should have urged Chuck, Director of Strategic marketing,
to recognize and appreciate Brooks work on environmental projects. He needed to be
motivated for his effort and criticized when required. Effective feedback, both positive
and negative, is very helpful, when communicated at the right time.
3.Avoid Stereotyping: It is very hard to refrain from stereotyping because people often
do it subconsciously. Primarily, she should consider that her behaviour toward Lyndon
could indeed have stereotypical implications, and realize that stereotyping other people
ruins their images of themselves. Allocation of African American and Latino vertical
market continuously for the second time, made Lyndon feel that he was being relegated
to a stereotype. Before assigning Brooks his sos, Kravitz could have consulted him on
whether he is comfortable with African American markets as he lacked experience in
those markets. People work best when they know what is expected of them and for this
to happen, all inputs should have been given to Brooks for him to successfully deliver
the assignment.

4. Better leadership and interpersonal skills: The changing attitude of Jane towards
Brooks had a negative impact. If acted otherwise, it would have improved the trust
relationship among employees. Proper distribution of projects among employees with
clarity will help eliminate the misunderstandings. Jane should make the target clear at
the beginning itself.
