Science and technology have the potential to improve our Ives, yet they
aso challenge the basic values of our humanity Utlizing an intediscptnary
approach, this course explores the impact of science and technology on
human cuture, history, and understanding. Through cial engagement
with scintfic and social theory we explore how science and technology
impact human cutures and values and we question what thse developments
‘mean for human societies in a glbal context. We explore topics such as
(obal warming, polluton, the nature of knowledge, science and gender,
surveillance and security, nuclear energy, tracking, weapons of mass
destruction, communications, the intemet, hacking, genetic modification,
space exploration, cosmology, cloning, artificial intligence and medicine,

ART AND ART HISTORY
The Art and Art History program encourages all students to discover
and explore the visual arts. Studio Art courses provide training in art
Practice, including drawing life crawing, painting, color and design the-
‘dimensional art, digtal photography, and cigtal ars. Art History courses
intzoduce students tothe study of art and explore the history of visual art
traditions throughout the word, trom antiquity tothe present. The program
is supported by the MeNish Gallery of Art, which brings contemporary
art to campus and provides students an opportunity to gain hands-on
experience in gallery work
Many courses in the Art and Art History program are transferable and
