Time: 1 hour
Skill focus: Days, months, numbers and ordinals.

1. Give the students a quick test. On a bit of paper have them write the
numbers 1-20 leaving spaces for answers. Call out the following words and
have students write down the answers.
1. First 11. Second
2. January 12. Thursday
3. Wednesday 13. Minute
4. Spring 14. Summer
5. March 15. Saturday
6. Winter 16. Hour
7. Sunday 17. February
8. Year 18. December
9. Tuesday 20. August

2. Explain that there are two ways of writing the date. The long way, (Fifteenth
of June 2017) and the short way (15/06/17). Explain that when spoken, the
numbers in dates need th on the end of them. Dont expect students to pick
this up straight away. It will need a bit of practise.

3. Give students the worksheet and complete Part 1 - Ordinals. Go through the
answers.
