Assessment Plan

Reading:
1. For the reading assignment students will begin by reading the book, Teammates by Peter
Golenbock. This book is going to introduce Jackie Robinson and his contributions made
during his baseball career. After reading, students will complete a worksheet on Jackie
Robinsons contributions. The worksheet is going to assess the students ability to apply
their knowledge from information they gained while reading the text. The worksheet
will have 10 questions and it will be graded as follows, 90-100=A, 80-89=B, 70-79=C, 60-
69=D, and anything below 60 is an F.

Writing:
1. Students will rewrite the biography of a historical figure of their choosing. They will
need to include many facts about that figure and what contributions they made. They also
need to be able to connect that figure to another figure that they interacted with. The
biography will be assessing their knowledge of biographies and everything that is included
in them. It will allow the teacher to see if the student is showing the right perspective and
showing their understanding of their sentence structure as well. The grade scale is 90-
100=A, 80-89=B, 70-79=C, 60-69=D, and anything below 60 is an F.

Math:
1. For the math assignment, students will construct a bar graph that shows a visual
representation of the number of home runs Jackie Robinson had each season during his
baseball career. The x and y axiss will be labeled for the students but they will have to
create their graphs by hand. This task will assess their ability to illustrate their knowledge
of bar graphs. Their bar graphs will show me what students understand the concept of bar
graphs and what students need more practice. The grade scale is 90=A, 80-89=B, 70-79=C,
60-69=D, and anything below 60 is an F.

Science:
1. Students will be asked about the stars and the solar system. They will be asked about
how they think James Oglethorpe used the stars to discover Georgia. The students will
watch a video on the life cycles of stars. They will then get into groups and take a 10-
question quiz. 90-100=A, 80-89=B, 70-79=C, 60-69=D, and anything below 60 is an F.

Social Studies:
1. Students will use either an iPad or will be going to a computer lab to research historical
figures in Georgia and their contributions. Each student will be assigned to a group and will
work together on a web quest. The web quest will include 5 links to different websites that
cover information on the historical figures in Georgia. This assignment is going to assess
students on their research skills, their ability to follow directions, and their ability to work
with their peers. This assignment will be a 10-point assignment, 10-9 points A, 8 points B, 7
points C, 6 points D and 5-0 points a F.
2. Students will create an artifact that they believe James Oglethorpe and his men had
when they arrived in Georgia. The students will then write a couple of sentences describing
the artifact. This activity will help students get their creativity out there. This assignment
will be graded on the accuracy of the artifact and the effort the students put into this
assignment. This assignment will be a 10-point assignment, 9-10 points A, 8 points B, 7
points C, 6 points D and 0-5 points a F.
3. Students will be asked to write a journal about if they were Martin Luther King Jr and
how would they change the South. This assignment will be based off 20 points. 17.9-20
points is an A, 17.8-15.9 points is a B, 15.8-13.9 points is a C, 13.8-12 points is a D, and
everything below 12 points is an F.
4. Students will be asked to research Chief Tomochichi and then describe what would you
do if you were the mediator for the tribes in those days. The students will then present to
the class how they will handle being the mediator. This assignment will be graded by
creavity and accuracy 90-100=A, 89-80=B, 79-70=C, 69-60=D, and everything below 60 is
an F.
5. Students will be in two different groups they will research President Jimmy Carter and
one group will argue why they think he was a good president and the other group will
argue why he is the worst president. The students will have a friendly debate with the
research. This assignment will be graded on the participation of each group member. If
everyone works together A but if someone is not helping out they will receive a 0 or an F.

I would feel very confused as to what they were doing there and be scared that they would
take our land. I do not think I would necessarily like living in Georgia during this time
because there were also a lot of conflicts between the colonists and the tribes.

his experiences he faced during this time?

His teammates, fans, and other baseball teams harassed him when he would play games
with the Brooklyn Dodgers. His boss helped him try not to react to the harassment and
some teammates stood by him. He was the first African American to be inducted in to
baseball hall of fame.
