Opening (activator/instant activity)

When all of the students settle down, I will play the first video which serves as a review of the
fight or flight response. Then the students will take 5 minutes answering the questions that I
posted on the presentation on their note sheets and we will have a short discussion.
Procedures Step by step description of teaching strategies/methods/pedagogy to be used.
(Include time frame for each activity, transitions, extensions/adaptations, cooperative learning
techniques jig saw, pair/share, etc.)
1. Management - Set up the google presentation and make sure the speakers are working
2. Management - Before the students get to class, place the coloring sheets on their desks
3. Teacher Lead - Go through the presentation having the students practice the different
relaxation techniques
4. After they do the different exercises, give them a minute to jot down some notes on their
sheet to help them remember which technique is which.
5. Transition - For the last activity, let the students spread out around the classroom to find
their own space to color on their own.
6. Play the disney relaxation music in the background to keep the environment calm while
the students color
7. At the end of the lesson, play the last video clip for a quick laugh before the students
leave.

List Assessment(s) informal or formal how do you know they have learned the desired
content and you have achieved your objectives?
Informal - Walk around and look at the students note sheets to make sure that they are
understanding the different relaxation techniques
Informal - Watch the students while they are going through the techniques to make sure
that they are on task.

Closure/Summarizer
Discuss that some of the exercises may work for you while the others dont and thats
okay. Different techniques are going to work for different people and it is important to
find what works for you to relax.

Notes/Reflection (to be completed right after you finish teaching a particular lesson)
What did you accomplish? How much did the students learn? What would you leave the same
and what might you change in the future to improve this lesson?

It was very beneficial to teach this lesson 2 times in a row. This way I could see how different
classes differ between the ways that they respond to a certain lesson. It was harder for the first
class to keep focused while the second class had a much easier time. Both times I feel that the
students met the objectives that I set. I know this because I saw all of them practice each
technique. I also walked around each time and checked the students notes and saw that pretty
much all of them had written detailed descriptions about the techniques that they practiced. After
teaching the lesson twice, I would leave in the presentation that I made. I described all of the
techniques but I should of also had pictures detailing them. This would help my visual learners
understand what they should be doing as well as the learners who like to read descriptions. I
would also record myself saying the script for the visualization technique. I sped through the
reading each time and if I recorded it, I would be able to listen to it myself to see if it was slow
enough.
