Ideas for how the Students can create timelines, write words, numbers, and drawings.
tool can be used 1.) With SOL 3.4 Students will learn that words may sound the same,
in PK-12 but are spelled differently. Children can expand their vocabulary
through reading and writing by creating homophones. Matching
words such as fairy and ferry and creating sentences with
those words.
2.) In SOL 1.9 students should be able to demonstrate their
understanding of multiple texts read in class. They will be able
to show the teacher that they comprehend what has been read.
The teacher can read a story and have the children draw and
discuss some of the characters they heard in the book together
on screen. Also, children can write descriptive words used to
define the character and have their partner guess which
character it is.
3.) Using SOL K.2 this applies under Life Systems. Children will be
able to show an understanding of life processes using scientific
terms and drawings. Children will create a timeline of the life
cycle of a butterfly together. Key concepts include: The butterfly
starts off as an egg, it grows from a caterpillar and eventually
forms a chrysalis, it will hatch and become a butterfly.
Positives and Negatives: Pictures may be hard to view due to the fact that all
challenges of writing is done with the mouse.
