Motivation technique when student responses are partially correct

Sometimes a students response to a question is partially correct but the answer is still wrong. Using the
following strategy will help dignify the response thereby motivating the students willingness to
participate.

Strategies:
1. Responds with praise to the correct part
2. Give hints and/or prompts
3. Dignify the student

Example:
Question:
o What do you write in the space marked ADDRESS on a job applicationJohn?
Answer:
o Your name, street name and number, and city, state and zip coade.
Response:
o You have stated everything you need in the space and a little extra.
o You also answered what goes in the space marked Name.
o I like your willingness to try and answer my question as completely as possible.
