SELECT MEDIA, MATERIALS, AND METHODS

MEDIA: 25 laptops or chrome books check out from the computer lab, WebQuest, Google
Earth

MATERIALS: worksheet with different rivers in Virginia, pencil

METHODS: Group discussion, individual work, small group work.

UNTILIZE MEDIA, MATERIALS, AND METHODS

MEDIA: 25 laptops or chrome books will be used to do WebQuest mini lesson on wetlands.
Also, will be used to go to Google Earth and explore the different rivers in Virginia including
the ones that is part of the Chesapeake Bay watershed.

MATERIALS: Worksheet: students may work with no more than two other people to
complete worksheet. They can help each other find the different rivers and answer
questions on the worksheet.
Pencils: Used to write answers on the worksheets.

METHODS: Group discussion: TSW discuss what they learned previously about watersheds.
Teacher will pick the topic but then have one student start the conversation. Then that
student will call on the next person who wants to add something. Teacher may step in to
narrow down the subject to a specific watershed or river that she wants the students to
discuss.
Individual work: TSW work individually to complete a mini lesson no more than twenty
minutes long on WebQuest. They will work individually so they can work at their own pace.
Small group work: TSW work with no more than two other people while exploring on Google
Earth. They will work collaboratively to find the different rivers in Virginia and answers a few
questions about nearby counties or cities.

REQUIRE LEARNER PARTICIPATION

GROUP DISCUSSION: TTW will take a step back from the class during this time. She will call
on one person to start the discussion then the students will have to volunteer to discuss
what they learned about watersheds. TSW be actively engaged because the teacher has
taken a step back and it is up to them to continue the conversation.

INDIVIDUAL WORK: TSW complete a mini lesson that is all on WebQuest. The students will
need to be actively engaged so they can get the information out of the mini lesson. They are
in charge of their learning during the mini lesson not the teacher.

SMALL GROUP WORK: TSW work in a small group to explore the different rivers and
watersheds in Virginia while answer questions. TTW walk around and help if it is needed.
EVALUATE AND REVISE

STUDENT PERFORMANCE: TSW be evaluated on the activity with Google Earth. The main
focus will be watersheds and wetlands. TSW demonstrate an understanding of watersheds
and where they are located as well as wetlands.

INSTRUCTOR PERFORMANCE: During the Google Earth activity the teacher will walk around
and listen to the students while they are working collaboratively to see if the watersheds
material was taught effectively.

MEDIA PERFORMANCE: The media will be used to partially teach the students. So if the
students do well with wetlands questions on the worksheet the teacher will know that the
media did well with teaching the students. The media is also used to explore the different
rivers in Virginia and if the students are able to easily navigate Google Earth then it was used
successfully.
