Abstract
Organizations and businesses are increasingly moving towards automation and they want to access stock
exchange news on their mobile phones in order to save on time, cost and resources. The proposed system
works on SMS based information system using GSM technology. The system is designed in such a way
that it facilitates stock brokers and businessmen to get live updates on their mobile phone regarding
current stock market affairs. The proposed system is beneficial in a way that it saves on resources in term
of time, human resources and cuts down the paper work. The proposed system also reduces cost by
replacing internet news updates with SMS updates. It provides a high end solution to the
customers/fieldworkers that use GSM and SMS technology for transactions updates of databases and
sending SMS.

1.Introduction
Internet provides a massive amount of dynamic information like news, stock information, weather
forecasts, currency exchange rates, sports news and a plethora of other information. The criteria is defined
on the basis of the users interests. SMS notifications can be used to notify the user whenever the criteria
are met. Based on the information need the Admin/Employee has the authority to insert, update, modify
and delete information from the database.
2. Literature Review
An Automated Stock Price Delivery System through SMS - is a system which is capable of delivering
real time stock market price information from internet based stock price servers to users. The delivery
system mechanism for this information is the GSM short messaging service. An IVR system in put in
place for the purpose of supporting an automated delivery process on the basis of speech prompt. With
growing reachability of mobile networks, SMS is the most reliable and well-known data service among
the users. A method is designed of a GSM short message service system of terminal mode to make
optimum use of the PCs good handling ability. This system can be used in variety of mobile value added
service applications, sending, receiving, and group messages and transmitting mobile text messages in
real-time and in an efficient manner. To implement a real-time online stock trading system a solution is
given by utilizing the technologies of Ajax, Struts and Hibernate framework. It is used by implementing a
framework with all the data stored in Oracle database; the realization of the data persistence layer is done
through Hibernate framework; automatic updating of form and real-time stock information is validated
through the use of Ajax technology. JMS is used to ensure communication among the different modules,
like for example between one module of analog transaction and another module of stock data acquisition.
An SMS system is proposed that intelligently and efficiently determines a good way to present
notifications to the user in real time. A decision module is utilized to examine the content of the message,
the relationship between the receiver and the sender and the user conditions due to new incoming
message. The decision module consequences are made use of to execute efficient notifications and to
reduce disturbances to a users ongoing tasks.

Figure 1: Framework
The working of the system model given in the above figure are as follows:
Web Server: Registration of client on the website.
GSM module: source of connectivity of the central database with mobile phones.
Central database: PHP module used by recipients to connect with the central database
Admin User: Admin authorized to insert, update and delete the records. But, admin first needs to connect
with the central database by providing login information. After successfully logging in the Admin can
perform a variety of tasks like insertion, updating and deletion of records.
Bluetooth connectivity: Used to connect the GSM module with application.
Mobile System: Used to receive real time SMS notifications by users.
4. Implementation
4.1 Characteristics of System
Nowadays, in this fast and ever-growing information age people have no time to watch or read about all
the news alerts regarding the stock market on the television or on the internet. This mixture of network
services and infrastructure information system ensures a proper mechanism is in place which delivers
notifications to the users based on their interests and thus save on their time and resources which
otherwise would have been utilized in scouring the news for updates about their stocks.
4.2 Advantages/Strengths of System
Some of the advantages of the proposed system are:

Users can receive messages even if they are in remote locations.

High availability, alerts are sent directly to the users phone.

Connectivity to the central database is done through GSM technology.

Low operating costs of SMS. Any personal or agency which caters to clients who have interest in the
stock markets will be able to implement this system and serve their clients in a better and efficient way
due to its low operating costs.

Internet connectivity is not needed and also saves on internet usage costs.

Users can track the stock exchange updates and information in a more efficient manner.

For the use of user a flash message mechanism is used.

Easy subscription to the services based on the users needs.

5.2 Experimental analysis Results

5.2.1 Time Duration for sending SMS
Time Format= 00:00:00.0000(hour: minute: second: millisecond)

Eight 00:00:22.5687923
Ten 00:00:27.2543762
Table 4: Normal SMS
Thus, from the above results seen through the figures and the tables we can see that the reliability of SMS
service among the users is high. Also, the time taken to send a SMS is very small i.e. in seconds, so it can
contribute to a huge saving in both time and resources for both the sender and the receiver.
6. Conclusion
This SMS based info. System can be easily adopted by organizations and it will benefit them by saving on
human resources, increased revenue, saving on precious time and cost. Also, this system takes up very
little of the database space. GSM is the right way to develop applications and as seen from the survey
results illustrated in the graphs the users are satisfied with the results of this technology as it is more cost
saving then conventional internet based information systems. Secure data transaction is another advantage
and it also saves on network resources, resources which can be used for other applications. This system is
divided into two applications, the Client side application and the server side application. Both of these
applications are connected with the central database. The survey results also show that the use of
databases cuts down on huge amount of paper work and it also increases performance because data is
updated automatically through mobile phones rather than thorough manual entry of data. Data security is
ensured through encryption of the data before it is stored in the database.
A different technology other than GSM can also be used to implement this system. Also, different
methods apart from Bluetooth but using GSM technology can be used to connect with the application.
Additional functionality which provide the users to with more options to extract the desired information
from the SMS can be added. In the case of non-availability of GSM service in a particular area there is a
provision of a mechanism which updates the local status in the users mobile database and in the
availability of GSM facility the user can sync the local database with the central database of the service
provider so that he can receive the updates. Also, programming and implementing an information system
which sends real time information related to the stock market is quite easy.
