d After reading the assigned chapters from the book, Because of Winn Dixie by
a Kate DiCamillo, students will log onto their Edmodo accounts and respond to a
g series of questions that will be in relation to the chapters assigned. If they do
o not have an account, I will help them to create a student account, so they can
g join the class by entering the class code. The length of their responses will be a
y minimum of at least a paragraph (four sentences or more). By doing this
assignment, students will learn to pull information from text and use it to form
an idea and/or argument in their responses. As the teacher, I will be monitoring
the responses to the questions I post.

With the questions presented to the students on Edmodo, they will respond in
their own words to questions from the chapters of the book that are assigned.
For example, the students may have a question that is about chapter one, such
as Why do you think Winn-Dixie walked into the grocery store?.

In this example, the selected readings for Because of Winn-Dixie by Kate
DiCamillo, were chapter one and two. Both chapters introduce the characters
Winn-Dixie, Opal, the preacher (Opals father), and a few supporting characters.
Opal tells the readers how she met her dog and how her father, the preacher,
reacted to the arrival of Winn-Dixie.
