Reflecting on the First Two Weeks

At this point, you have pretty much concluded your inquiry and research work. Now its time to cull,
contextualize, and think about how this material is going to be presented. In this Weekly Activity Memo,
please respond to the following prompts.

Where did you begin? Where are you now? In other words, chart your earliest
thinking/reaction to this project and your role in it and compare it to where you are now.
I started my research by searching up a general idea of Censorship. It than progressive
showed me different examples of censorship and how Germany treated art. I now have a lot
of research on book burnings and propaganda books. My role was the group editor.
What issues have arisen in your group and how did you respond to them?
At first Helena and Madison did have troubles finding good sources and details for their
research. However, eventually overtime they did find good sources that help their research.
What did you do (either this week or past weeks) that was really useful to the group?
I made sure to reserve the same room for the next two weeks, that way my group knew
where to meet up every class. I did partially help Madison with her research because
degenerate art did appear a lot in my research, and I knew it wouldnt help me, but it would
help Madison. Her research is Art created in camps.
If you were not the best group member (either this week or past weeks) in some way, what
did you do to improve?
I just focused more on doing my research, and making sure I completed it in time.
What was it like to work in your groups in the library?
I honestly didnt feel any different from my previous research groups. It felt the same, the only
difference being was that we were in a private room.
Considering the information that you have been learning about, write a paragraph or so about
what you are learningI mean, the actual info that you didnt know before you began this
process.
I did not know that book burnings originally came from Nazi Germany. The book burning
wasnt organized by Hitler, it was actually organized by college students. I was surprised to
find out that Hitler actually had a Minister for Propaganda. He was actually responsible for
most of the actually destruction of non-German art. I didnt expect to find a childrens book
about hating the Jews.
What are you noticing about yourself as an information gatherer at this point?
It seems that the kind of research I usually do, is turning out to be very useful for these kind
of projects.
What questions are you asking/how are you making decisions about what information to use
and what to ignore?
What relates to my topic the most? Do I want to focus on propaganda or literally censorship?
Should I focus on one specific example of censorship or a general summary of all of them?
How much information is too much?
