Curating and Annotating

Part: I Topic: 1st Grade Math Activities on Pinterest

Part II:

1. How could you effectively incorporate the tool/app you selected into your

teaching?

You can use Pinterest for many things when teaching. I like to think of PInterest as a

tool for brainstorming. One way you can effectively incorporate Pinterest into

teaching is through inspiration. You can create boards that each have different

topics that will give you inspiration on certain topics just like the board I created on

1st grade math activities. Students can also gain inspiration by creating boards and

pinning certain links and pictures that relate to a certain topic. Another way you can

effectively incorporate PInterest into teaching is through doing team projects.

Students can use Pinterst boards to collaborate together on group projects. Each

group can have their own board and multiple students can pin the board. Another

way you can effectively incorporate Pinterest is through having a class board where

you and your students can pin anything related to class like assignments, student

work, and more. Another way is through assigning research boards where students

have to research about a certain topic and create a bard about their topic where
they can pin anything like pictures, videos, website links, and more. The last way

you can incorporate Pinterest into teaching is through finding activities and lessons

that you can use in your classroom. When creating my board I found many

resources that I could use when planning lessons for 1st grade math.

2. In what ways might curating and annotating create meaningful opportunities

to promote learners communication skills?

Curating and annotating can create many meaningful opportunities to promote

learners communication skills. One way curating and annotating creates meaningful

opportunities to promote learners communication is that it lets students take

ownership of their own learning. Another way is that curating and annotating

develops students abilities to find trends and patterns in their research. Another

way is that curating and annotating helps students organize and present their work.

Another way that curating and annotating creates meaningful opportunities to

promote communication skills is that it helps students with researching and

grouping related information.

3. Identify strategies for engaging learners using a variety of non-digital

communication modalities (e.g. listening, speaking, performing, drawing,

reading, writing).

Many strategies can be used for engaging learners using a variety of non-digital

communication modalities like listening, speaking, drawing, and etc. One strategy to

engage learners is to create a visual representation of something. Another strategy

is to talk about the students learning and what their objectives are when learning.

Another strategy is having the students write in many modes through daily journals,
essays, and assignments. Another strategy is having students speak to class about

their work instead of just writing their work down and turning it in. Another

strategy is writing important information on the board and also putting important

information up on the walls for students to refer to.
