CURRICULUM
Math:
We are finishing up a chapter on long division and
taking a test on 12/12 and then beginning a new chapter
on fractions. Practicing fact fluency and taking
quarterly assessments. Students can access their math
programs through www.thinkcentral.com using their
ID and passwords. If they are able to get on at home
please allow them to use it to assist them with any
homework assignments.
Science:
We are beginning a unit on Force and Motion. We have
learned about Sir Isaac Newton and his 3 laws of
motion. We will be receiving a kit that will allow us to
build cars out of kNex pieces and complete different
experiments with them.
Social Studies:
We watch CNN10 to learn about what is going on in
the world today. We are learning about the regions of
the United States and was are the characteristics of
each region.
Reading
We have begun a unit on Non-Fiction Text Features
and Structures. During independent reading I am
having students spend time practicing these skills with
written responses to books that they are reading.
Writing
The class just finished creating How to Slideshows
and presenting them to the class. Now we will being
Expository papers.

DRESS CODE
Wexler is a uniform school. Please be sure that your
child is dressed in the appropriate uniform daily. As a
part of our PRIDE activities, students are recognized
and/or rewarded for maintaining the uniform dress
code. If obtaining a uniform is a problem for you,
please contact the school for possible assistance.

Homework
Children are responsible for ALL nightly
homework assignments, (no exceptions).
A Math handout, Reading Log, and Daily
Language sheet are given every night
related to the work we have done in class
that day. Every day they do a Math Do
Now that leads to a mini Do Now quiz on
Fridays. Reading logs and daily language
sheets are due by Friday of that week.
Please remind your child to complete and
turn in homework on time.

REMINDERS
Please be sure to keep the school
updated with any change of address and
or telephone numbers. Any changes of
dismissal need to go through the office or
your child will be sent home however they
normally get home. The school day begins
promptly at 7:30a.m with breakfast ending
at 8:00a.m. Please try to make sure that
your child is on time to take full
advantage of their school day.
