Service Learning Plan

For my service learning project, I intend to teach my father how to make a Prezi

presentation. My dad currently works as a field consultant for 7-11 Inc. and has to make

presentations regularly. He always uses Microsoft Powerpoint for his presentations and often

asks me to help him complete it because he is not too familiar with technology. I think that

teaching him how to use Prezi will make working on his presentations much easier for him and

will enhance his presentations that he creates for work.

In order to teach my dad, I will be using a laptop and the Prezi presentation program. In

addition, I will have my dad have the data from his stores that will be useful in his work

presentations. We will be working in my dads office in my house so that he is in a comfortable

setting to learn the material. I plan on teaching him at least one hour per week. Each week I will

plan a different technique that one can perform on Prezi to teach to my dad. Towards the last few

weeks of teaching, I will assess my dad by asking him to create a Prezi presentation.

Specifically, I will have him create a Prezi presentation for an actual work meeting which he can

present to his co-workers. By doing this, my dad is not only learning something new, but he is

getting his own work done. Overall, I think this plan will be very successful and I think that my

dad and his co-workers will be impressed with his newfound technological skills.
