The term Global Warming refers to the gradual increase in temperatures of the Earth's

atmosphere and oceans that has been detected today, in addition to its continuous increase
projected into the future.

No one doubts the rise in global temperature, what still raises controversy is the source and
reason for this rise in temperature. Even so, most of the scientific community asserts that there is
more than 90% certainty that the increase is due to increased greenhouse gas emissions from
human activities including deforestation and the burning of fossil fuels such as oil and carbon.

An increase in global temperature will result in changes as we are already observing worldwide,
we can enumerate:

Rising sea levels

Changes in pattern and amount of precipitation
Expansion of subtropical deserts

The weather conditions can become more extreme. This implies larger and more intense storms,
more rain followed by more prolonged and intense droughts (a challenge for crops), changes in
the areas in which animals can live and loss of water supply that historically came from glaciers.
Scientists are already noticing that some of these changes happen faster than they expected. Most
of the global warming has occurred in the last 35 years.
