Important Features

Functional Beam Patterns.

The AFL was designed with
four beam patterns that best
accommodate the geometry
of most architecture and the
surrounding environment.
lnstal atrons of one or multiple
beam spreads will provide
complete versatility for exterior
or interior lighting See pages 8
through 10 for application
gurdelines.
AFLl
Vandal Resistant Construction.
A precision die cast housing with
extra-heavy wa I thichness gives
the AFL a rugged character,
Heat-dissipating ribs add body
strength while reducing internal
temperatures, thereby promoting
extended life of the electrical com-
ponents. Recessed allen head
screws are utilized in the swivel
and door frame assembly.
Added vandal resistance can be
achieved by specifying the
Heavy Duty Swivel.

lnstallation & Maintenance.

The AFL is shipped completely
assembled and prewired with
leads. Lamp installation rs done
by removlng fuuo captive al en
head screws. The complete re-
flector assembly is removable as
a unit, providing access to the
ballast. lhe hinged door frame s
held by a stop arm for easy lamp
installation and general mainte-
nance requirements.

Design Coordinated J-Box.
Kim realized that mounting the
AFL on a rypical outdoor junc-
tion box would substantially
compromise the AFLs' appear-
arce. Consequenrly. Kirr ir-
vented the Architectural J-Box.
It enhances the AFLs' clean
lines, allowing an integral transi-
tion between fixture and sup-
port. The Kim Architectural J-Box
is precision die cast in a miri-
mal cylindrical shape to match
the swivel flange. lt is fully gas-
keted and U.L. and C.S.A listed
for wet locatlons. The AFL
swivel firmly seats on the J-Box
and locks by an internal set
screw. The Architectural J-Box
also provides superior strength
as an above-grade-only mounting
device.

option is designed for outdoor
and indoor use. The hinged
doors lock in position and are
individually removable. Each
extruded door features anti- re-
flection baffles, and is mounted
to a cast aluminum frame. The
Barn Door option mounts to
any AFL, can be used with the
polycarbonate lens shield, and
may be conveniently added if
the need arises after installation.
It is particularly useful for
shielding the lamp in down-
