Server Specifications

The server specifications as well as the quantity of servers needed depend on the number

of computer users expected to be running the project management application. It is implemented

using an N+1 principle which enables a server to be taken offline if the need arises without

affecting the business performance.

The following server specification is capable of running the entire CSM Tech Publishing

users however, at least two application servers would be ideal for systems with far less users

running project management client application.

Server Specifications

Processors 1 x Quad Processor

RAM 8 GB

Hard Disks 2 x Disks RAID 1

CD/DVD Drive Yes

Power supplies Redundant Hot plug PSU

Deployment Eg. RDS/Citrix

Operating system Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials Edition

Database Software Microsoft SQL 2012 R264bit Standard

CSM Tech Publishing resilience is maintained by adding additional server where the

Load balancing is accomplished via either an App load balancing or by simply creating and NLB

cluster for remote computer client services. The server should have current mid to high spec

processors. The utilization of low end processors is countered with incorporation of additional

cores.
The amount of ram required for efficient server running is as depicted in the table and thus the

recommended minimum. It is roundup so as to provide room for future expansion. In the

occasion that a database size exceeds the original estimate, an additional RAM is be required.

Addition of such a server would require higher end disks with more fast spindles. Also higher

IOPS should be considered and fully incorporated.
