1. Explain the load curve and load duration curve with help of suitable diagrams.
2. Define the following terms : Load factor, diversity factor, plant capacity factor,
plant use factor, Installed reserve, spinning reserve, cold reserve, hot reserve.
3. What is load forecasting? and state its classification & importance. Also briefly
discuss the factors affecting the load forecasting.
4. Briefly discuss the components & classification of loads and also list out the
important characteristics of various types of loads.
5. The impedance of a load Z=R+jX. By how much percent will the real load drop if the
voltage is reduced by 1%? Also find how would 1% drop in frequency affect the real
load. The load is assumed to have a power factor of 0.8.
6. Derive the expression for solution of load forecasting by the method of least square
fit.
7. What is Unit Commitment problem? & discuss the constraints that are to be
handled in unit commitment problem.

problem.
10.Discuss about the Profit based Unit commitment problem.
