Grade Level: Kindergarten Content Area: Writing Standards Addressed: ELAGSEKW6: With guidance and support from adults, use a variety of tools to produce and publish writing, including digital tools in collaboration with peers. Title of Online Project/Collaboration Site/Publishing Opportunity: Storybird URL of Online Project/Collaboration Site/Publishing Opportunity: https://storybird.com/ Describe how you would use the Online Project/Collaboration Site/Publishing Opportunity in your classroom: Students will be given access to Storybird.com to publish their independent writing. With guidance and support students will upload their writing and illustrations into a story for other students to view and provide feedback. Students will choose a peers story and tell what they liked best about the story and why. What technologies would be required to implement this proposed learning activity in a classroom? Computers/tablets inside the classroom Describe how the following features are addressed in this learning experience (note: all of them may not be addressed in the project, but most should be if you are reaching a high LoTi Level.): a. Collaboration with peers, near-peers, mentors outside their classroom and often beyond their school: Students will listen to other students stories and give feedback on what and why they learned from their peers stories. b. Student-centered learning and knowledge creation (collecting original data and or producing original products as a result of engaging in the project): Students would choose their own topic to research, collect facts, write, and illustrate to inform their audience about their chosen topic. c. Higher-order thinking: Students choose their own topic to research and write. d. Students publishing their original work to others who will use/care about their product: Students will publish their writing to inform other students about facts learned on their chosen topic.
