Instructor Bohannon

Dear Mr. Bohannon

Upon exploring the poverty and crime rates in Brazil I hope to research ways in

which Brazil could lower its crime rates. I hope to research countries with low crime rates

and see what they are doing different. I also hope to go in greater depth on how to fix

their high crime rates. I want to explore programs that these countries are using to see if

any could be immitated in Brazil. I could even look in to Brazils laws and see what laws

could be enforced with harsher jurisdiction. All of this information will help me

determine ways to help Brazils high crime rates.

Sincerely:

Guadalupe Velazquez

Brazils crime rate resolved

Brazil has one of the highest crime rates in the world. It is even called the

murder capital of the world(Rapnza). This is due to many different factors and it should

change. In fact it could immitate some of Singapores tactics to lowering their crime rate.

Singapore has one of the lowest crime rates in the world. It is the other side of the

spectrum to that of Brazil.

Brazails crime rate has significantly increased in these past years. This contrasts

the fact that the poverty rate has decreased. The crime that is taking place in Brazil is

furhter than any that could be found in Singapore. Brazils crime consists of murders,

kidnapping, rape, drug trafficking, etc. While Singapores crime consists of fraud with

other countries. Although fraud is bad it does not compare to murder or rape. Singapore

does however have many aspects that have been added to make this change drop.

Singapore has enacted the ideals that center around the police.

These ideals are to bring the police to the people and to bring the people to the

police. This goes further than just turning criminals in. This extends to having people

trust the police. If the people ever need help they know that they can trust the police to be

there. For whatever reason someone might need the police they know that these officers

will be there. This is different than that of Brazil in which the polic themselves do not

care. They do not care about whether or not someone needs help, the people are not their

priority. In fact much of the police officers are corrupt. This just adds to the fact that the

people do not trust the police. This adds to even more crime because if the people cannot

trust their local police officers they will most likely take revenge in to their own hands.

This will increase the crime rates significantly.
