Reflection #3

The third artifact that I will be reflecting upon is going to be the document interpretation #4.

It seems fitting to reflect on my learning using the assignment that was due in the middle of week

5. The reason being that now I got accustomed to the rhythm of this History class in terms of due

dates and assignment expectations by that point. Furthermore, this assignment incorporated the

feedback that I have received for all my document interpretations up till that point. However, the

grade I received on the document interpretation #4, provided me suggestions on what I needed to

improve on and what were my learning goals for the remaining assignments. I began this

assignment by reading over all of the content in week 5s modules. After this, I took a break to

let the information marinate in my brain, so that I can think of possible supporting evidence

needed in my document interpretation. Upon completing the interpretation of The Blessings of

Slavery by George Fitzhugh, it helped put in perspective how different of opinions both the

North and South had on slavery. I applied this past scenario to the issues that our country is

currently divided on which includes, healthcare, foreign policy, and gun control etc. These issues

might not lead to a civil war, but the lack of unity stalls any progress that this country can make

regarding these topics. I plan on learning beyond the presented documents and find correlations

between the events of the past to the events of the present in any course I take from now on.

However, in my assignments I must work on a few factors to improve my academic abilities.

These factors that I must work on include the following, I need to properly cite my sources, and I

need to include more of the citations into my assignments that require them. In conclusion, the

feedback I have received throughout the semester on my document interpretations is helping my

writing abilities by forcing me to think more critically on a given topic. Furthermore, the classes

I have yet to finish for my prerequisites are Psychology, and Political Science. Both classes
demand multiple writing assignments which I believe this class has prepared me for by

developing my writing skills and in-depth analysis of several types of documents.
