Australian sheep and cattle farms are home to around 28 million cattle and 70 million sheep and the
industry provides jobs for 350,000 people. The farms are situated in two Australian biomes, with many
videos and work sheets describing their climate, soils and vegetation. The way the biomes are altered to
produce food and fibre is evident throughout, as are the challenges to food production for Australia that
the farmers grapple with.

Activity: Using the video clips and facts, choose one farm and investigate and explain the impact of the
climate, soils and vegetation of the biome on each farm.
