The Order of St.

Hanfraig The militant arm of the Gilfrastian Faith

Legate Leader of the militant wing of the Canonicate. Currently the

Legate is a dwarf named Brandig Ironhorn, and he resides in the
Palace of Order alongside Pontifex Lordon in Arkakrot.

Executor There are 7 Executors at any given time. Their role is mostly the
same as a Principals only they vote among themselves for the
next Legate after the previous Legate retires. Most of the time,
they reside in the Cathedrals of Gilfrast the dot the more
civilized races nations, but are usually in the Palace or Order
assisting the Legate

Principal (Major and Minor) Principals deal with threats to order by coming up with strategies
to which he can commit Ordinators and Initiates. They come in
2 varieties - Minor Principals and Major Principals, or a rank
within a rank. Major Principal simply denotes more experience
and being able to be chosen as an Executor

Ordinator/Iudex Ordinators lead initiates into battle. They also work closely with
an Iudex to root out any chaos within a society. An Iudex can be
as martial as an Ordinator (though rarely) and an Ordinator can
fill in for an Iudex. This rank is focused on refining the mind and
purging the latent disorder, so that judgements can be passed
and the faith of the people maintained that justice was carried
out.

Initiate Footsoldiers of Gilfrast who have been officially accepted into

the fold. They follow the orders of an Ordinator (or anyone who
ranks higher)

Auxiliary Random zealots who fight for order over chaos. Some dont
even fight under Gilfrasts banner. Mostly looked down upon by
those within the Canonicate. Generally refused blessing by the
Order of St. Hanfraig until they properly join the ranks.

The Order of St. Eramus The clergy of the Gilfrast

Pontifex Religious leader of the Canonicate. Contemplates the

philosophies of Gilfrast and sets them into action with
edicts passed down to the clergy. Currently, the Pontifex is
a Urmathan human named Edert Lardon.
Cardinal There are 27 Cardinals of Gilfrast (with no number officially
decreed, other than that it has to be odd to break voting
ties), and much like the Executor of the Order of St.
Hanfraig, their main role is to vote for a Pontifex. Other
than that their roles as bishops take up most of their time.

Bishop (High and Low) Regional leaders of the Canonicate. They are responsible
for disseminating the Edicts to the Priests and Iudexi.
Typically they reside in Great Cathedrals to Gilfrast in major
cities. While there is no official distinction between a H
igh
Bishop and a Low Bishop, generally Bishops in charge of
prominent regions are considered more important

Iudex/Ordinator An Iudex acts as a judge. Many times the local constabulary

defers to the trained wisdom of an Iudex rather than their
own (oftentimes meager) understanding of law. Ordinators
can also fulfill this role, but are more focused in finding
sources of chaos.

Priest Exactly what it sounds like.

Laican Non-ordained priests who take up the word of Gilfrast

without being certified members of the church. Must take
great pains not to be labeled heretics and usually submit
their sermons to a local Canonicate Priest before going on
mission in the countryside
