Mario Vargas Llosa, one of the most renowned writers of today and recognized not only in Spanish
America but throughout the world. Mario Vargas Llosa was born in Arequipa in 1936. His first
publication, "The Bosses", won the Leopoldo Arias Award. From which he has obtained innumerable
laures by novels like "The city and the dogs", "The conversation in the Cathedral", "The green house",
"The war of the end of the world", "The party of the goat" and many more. In 1990, Vargas Llosa
nominated the Presidency of the Republic of Peru, but did not achieve the victory, which made him
resume his literary career. Such is the prestige of this Peruvian writer that his books have been
translated into 33 languages. He currently collaborates with various media outlets and lectures at
universities and other institutions. The writer was nationalized Spanish in 1993, three years after
losing the presidential election, in a decision that was criticized at the time in the South American
country.
