Senior Class Council Meeting -- Wednesday, August 25, 2010

Representatives from the following homerooms were present: Ako, Becker, Blake,
Bright, Burbridge, Cabral, Cyriacks, Del Prado, Ellis, Evensen, Fale, Fontaine,
Freitas, Ho, Kauka, Little, Makanani, Matsuda, Mordan, Okimoto, Pang, Trinidad,
Vinta

Agenda/Notes:
1. Tory Watanabe, Class Vice President, talked about Senior Lü‘au
• Saturday, October 23, 2010 at Kekühaupi‘o Gym
• Doors will open at 5:00 pm – event ends at 10:00 pm
• Country Store will be placed outside of the gym this year, opening early at 4:00
pm, so people can shop while waiting in line for the doors open
• Ticket Sales will take place during our lunch period on block days ($25/ticket)
o Tuesday, September 21 – Friday, September 24
 Students are only allowed to purchase (3) three tickets during this first
week. This is to ensure a fair chance for all students to purchase
tickets.
o Tuesday, September 28 – Friday, October 1
 Students are allowed to purchase as many tickets as desired, until all
tickets are sold out
• Distribution will take place the week of the event (Tues., Oct. 19 - Fri., Oct. 22)
• The senior board is asking students to send in pictures and candids of students and
their friends at school events, activities, athletics, etc. This can be from elementary,
middle, and high school.
o Send pictures either hard copy or digital file
 Hard copies may be given to any senior board member or Mr.
Okazaki – there is no guarantee that you will get your picture back
 Digital copies may be emailed to k11mallan@ksbe.edu or uploaded
to the class’ Facebook page - “Kamehameha Schools - Class of 2011”
• We need student entertainers to perform at lü‘au in order for the night to be a
success. This can include bands, singers, hula dancers, and other entertainers. Be
on the look out for flyers and forms coming out soon.
• The design for the Senior Lü‘au t-shirt was shared. This was the design voted on by
homerooms last year. Emily Char is the winning designer. Be on the look out for
order forms being distributed in homeroom soon.
• Student Participation – The class board is asking for volunteers to show up and help
with set-up and clean-up for the lü‘au. Your help is necessary to make this event a
success! We do not need help during the actual event, we want you to be able to
enjoy the event with your family and friends.

2. Michael Vossen, ASKS Coordinator of Student Activities, came to talk about the
upcoming Ho‘olokahi Week & Pep Rally

 Ho‘olokahi Week will take place on the week following Senior Lü‘au. Monday,
October 25 – Friday, October 29
 On Thursday, October 28 we will be operating on a PM activity schedule with a
Pep Rally at the end of the day.
o It was noted that there is a football game that night vs. St Louis
o Each class will be in charge of doing a cheer. The class board has asked
Michael Vossen and Moani Kahapea of the ASKS board to coordinate our
class’ cheer, since our class board will be busy with other events during this
month
o If you are interested in participating and representing our class, contact

3. Jamie Alama, Ka Na‘i Aupuni Editor in Chief, talked about senior baby pictures and
candids
• Begin finding your senior baby pictures for the yearbook!
• Also, start collecting candids of you and your friends for the yearbook.
4. Kiley Caswell and Marche Llanos, Class Reps at Large talked about Senior Prom themes

 This year our prom will take place on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at the Ko‘olau
Ballrooms.
 Last year, Kiley and Marche asked people to send in their theme ideas over the
summer. After receiving different ideas, the board has condensed the list down to
five-final ballot themes.
 Homeroom representatives will vote on the theme at the next Class Council
Meeting.

4. Sugar Rush (Candyland)
5. Passport to Romance
5. Kaiwi, Class President talked about this year’s Halloween Haunted House

 This will be a campus-wide social sponsored by the Class of 2011on Friday,


October 29 from 6:00 – 9:00 pm
 The Ka‘ahumanu building basement will be transformed into a haunted house!
 K-12 students and their families will be invited to attend free of charge
 We will be allowing seniors to help out in serving as actors and guides that night.
