AQ-009 FMEA – Failure Mode Effects Analysis

Guidelines for use
Edition No. 2, January 2007
(Available in Italian)

FMEA is a preventive analysis technique used by product/process experts. The aim is to

ensure that, as far as possible, all potential product/process failure modes have been
considered in the same manner, according to the causes that could generate them and the
probability of their occurring. The purpose of these guidelines is to provide a preliminary
overview of the FMEA technique. In the appendix there are accounts of FMEA used in
certain automotive sector companies which highlight the various solutions adopted in
response to typical problems reported. The publication also briefly covers the features of
second generation FMEA techniques.

AQ-014 DOE – MANUAL OF EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN
Edition No. 1, January 1999
(Available in Italian)

In essence, Experimental Design is an organic, consistent experimental technique used both to

identify the most influential qualities of a given phenomenon in an effective and efficient
manner, and to optimise them in terms of required quality levels. This manual is intended for
people at all levels who have responsibility for designing and managing products and processes.
In fact, there are two sections. The first is an introductory section, intended for those who,
for instance, have responsibility for functions and want a rapid overview of what Experimental
Design is, and the benefits it can bring to their company. The intention is to give an
understanding of basic concepts and the enormous potential of the proposed methods, but
without requiring a knowledge of statistics. The second section is for technicians and
illustrates theoretical foundations and application tools using more technical - but also very
readable and practical - language, supplemented by practical examples. Reference is also made
to related techniques which, since they lead to reductions in times and costs, pinpoint the true
value of applying Experimental Design. 50,00 60,00

TS1 ISO/TS 16949 :2002 Technical Specification

Edition June 2002 - Revised 4th May 2004
(Available in Italian)

The purpose of the Technical Specifications is to develop quality systems which lay the
foundations for continuous improvement, with an emphasis on preventing defects and
reducing variability and waste throughout the entire supply chain. The Specifications define the
basic quality system requirements for those companies adopting them. Current quality system
requirements for the automotive sector are harmonised within a global industrial context, so
avoiding the need for multiple audits in order to obtain certification. The document is the
result of efforts of a specific task force, IATF (International Automotive Task Force), whose
objective was to prepare common European-US Guidelines by harmonising four existing audit
documents (AVSQ '94, EAQF, QS 9000, VDA6) which are based on ISO standards. A further
objective was to agree a common audit and certification procedure, capable of ensuring
conformity with common requirements found in the automotive sector. 40,00 57,00
