Purpose and Objectives

Purpose:

If a power outage occurred at the Commons and all of their perishable goods were

spoiled and deemed unsafe for consumption, the crisis team would have to take action

immediately. Students must remain as the focus while working towards a solution, therefore we

must communicate early and often to ensure everyone is aware of the situation and what to

expect. If we build positive partnerships with outside organizations and communicate clearly, we

will overcome the crisis by keeping students safe and fed. It is vital for the Commons to follow a

crisis plan and make any necessary corrections as they control the crisis and work to reach their

objectives.

Objectives:

1. Communicate power outage to students, faculty, and staff within one hour and update often.

2. Contact the contracted power company within one hour.

3. Alert vendors and request an emergency food order within the first four hours.

4. Address the crisis on all KSU social media pages and the university’s website within two

hours.
