Using your cards, figure out the base 10 numbers for the following base 2 (binary) numbers.

1. Using your cards, count from 0 - 10. Do you see a pattern forming in how the cards are flipped? Try again if you
don’t see it and this time use your journal to take notes while you are flipping. What is the pattern or what do
you notice?
Every time a new number is introduced in consecutive order from left to right a new card is opened.
2. Using your cards, can you figure out a logical and reliable method of flipping the cards to increase any number
by one?
When increased by one start from the left and turn those cards over until you reach the number needed and
stop flipping cards.
