Gwinnett County Public Library January News and Events

STEM Saturdays
On January 20th and 27th the Lawrenceville Branch will be hosting a free coding class
presented by the Andrew Simpkins Innovation Foundation and taught by former NFL
player Maurice Simpkins. Students will learn Javascript and Python concepts and
applications and will also get free Tynker and Codemoji accounts that they can use in
their own time to improve their coding skills.

A session for grades K-3 will run from 10:30am-12:00pm and a session for grades 4-8
will follow at 1:00pm. Space is limited so registration is required. These classes have
proved very popular and GCPL is looking to add more future dates so if anyone
interested is not able to register please have them be on the lookout for more classes in

Homework Help Resumes


We know students are back and hard at work! Our free tutoring for science and math
subjects in grades 6-12 resumes on Tuesdays and Saturdays until the end of the school
year. Volunteer tutors will be available on Tuesday evenings from 4:30pm-6:30pm and
on Saturday morning from 10:00am-2:00pm. No registration is required.

Join our knit and crochet group for crafting and good company! Drop in with your current
project. Or, bring yarn and needles to start something new! All fiber crafts and skill
levels welcome. Limited instruction may be available.

Can you design and build a hands-free water carrier? Join us and see whose design is
the best! For ages 11 and up.

The Atlanta Regional Workforce Board will be visiting in their mobile career lab offering
assistance in career planning and job readiness coaching. Services and assistance
provided on the Mobile Career Lab:
