Taste of Home Apple Pie

Recipe Pie Crust:

Recipe
1 ¼ cups all purpose flour, ¼ Teaspoon Fine Sea Salt, 10 Tablespoon unsalted Butter cut into cubes, 2-4
Tablespoons ice water
Instructions:
In a food processor, pulse together the flour and salt. Add the butter and pulse until the mixture forms lima bean-
size pieces. Slowly add ice water, 1 tablespoon at a time, and pulse until the dough just comes together. It should
be moist, but not wet.
Turn dough out onto a lighting floured surface and gather into a ball. Flatten into a disk with the heel of your
hand. Cover tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour
Recipe Apple Pie:
½ Cup Sugar, ½ Cup Packed Brown Suagr, 3 Tablespoons All-Purpose Flour, 1 Teaspoon Ground Cinnamon, ¼
Teaspoon Ground Ginger, ¼ Teaspoon Ground Nutmeg, 6 to 7 Thinly Sliced Peeled Tart Apples, 1 Tablespoon
Lemon Juice, Pastry for Do0ubvle Crust Pie (9 inches), 1 Tablesppoon Butter, 1 Large Egg White, Additonal Sugar
Instructions:
1. In a small bowl, combine the sugars, flour, and spices: set aside. In a large bowl, toss apples with lemon
juice. Add sugar mixture; toss to coat.
2. Line a 9-inch pie plate with bottom crust; trijm pastry even with the edge. Fill with apploe mixture; dot
with butter. Roll out remaining pastry to fit top of pie. Place over filling. Trim,. Seal, and flute edges. Cut
slits in pastry.
3. Beat egg white until foamy; brush over pastry. Sprimkle with sugar. Cover loosley with foil.
4. Bake at 375 degrees for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake 20-25 minutes longer or until crust is golden
brown and filling is bubbly. Cool on wire rack.
